Christmas Snowflake

One final post before the Christmas festivities begin.  Yep. that's how this blog post began and then, I forgot to post it. So, now it's one final post about Christmas now that the festivities are over. lol!

This is a super simple card that I just adore! I was inspired by some snowflake cards made by Melissa Roell - so cute! It uses the monthly spotlight special paper pack for December - Old Fashioned Christmas. The base is wasabi and has a layer of cherry, sky and kraft on top. Isn't that a pretty combo? The biggest snowflake from the snowflake die set cut from the kraft makes a neat effect. And, a sky twinkle sticker in the snowflake finishes off the look.

And check out the Halloween washi tape. You can get this for a few more days. It's perfect with the color combo and with the red baker's twine on top - fabulous!
Here it is close up. Some silver cording ties a little jingle bell on the baker's twine to finish it off. Simple and stunning. What do you think?

I hope you had a most wonderful Christmas season! It was a wonderfully magical time and a beautiful family time for me and my family. Blessings to all!

Have a Cool Yule! 3-D Christmas Tree Card

A Muse Studio had the neatest card on their blog recently and I knew I had to do a variation of it with my card class in December. I used the Christmas Tree Die. It will work with any symmetrical die (snowman or heart or circle or square or.... lots of options!)

The card base is seattle and has a layer of twas the night cardstock on top with two rows of washi tape from the fall collection and halloween collection at the base. Seattle snowflakes were stamped on top of the twas the night layer. It's subtle (which is a good thing because I forgot that stamp as well as the greeting  - have a cool yule - when I taught the class....oops! Good thing I have wonderful peeps who are super understanding!)

I used three of the a muse studio cardstock options to make the tree: grass petite polka dot, grass gingham and sage. Score and fold in half and glue and then glue the bottom layer to the card. A little bling is placed at the top of the tree and also at the end of the sentiment.
Here's a close-up of the right side. You can see that the sentiment is stamped in grass on a  shimmer sugar cardstock (love that shimmer!) 1.5" circle which is edged in seattle ink.
 And, here's a close-up of the left side. :)
Here's the inside. I just love how the a muse studio ink handles fonts. It's so crisp and clear!

I hope you've enjoyed this fun 3-D card. The nice thing is that it will fold flat to mail and then pop up when the recipient opens the envelope. :)

CAS Gift Bag

Do you like to give little bags of treats at the holidays? Here's a super SIMPLE gift bag that makes a big impact. No adhesive is needed for this version.
This is the a muse studio white paper sack filled with chocolate and other yummy treats. French roast twine is wrapped around the bag and tied in a bow. The three different size poinsettias from the poinsettia die set were cut out of currant felt, rotated to alternate the petals and using the mini clothespin, were clipped onto the twine. That's it - easy peasy!
I trimmed the bag and rolled it a little and pulled it apart to add interest to the top. The clothespin could have glitter added to it. The poinsettia could have some bling added or be cut out of cardstock or so many other ways but I really wanted a clean and simple (CAS) look to it.
Here's a side view. Wouldn't these be great at each place setting at a Christmas party? Or, wouldn't these be great on all your students desks at school? Or, how about on all of the desks in your office? Or, given out at Sunday School or to thank a friendly clerk at a store or... the list goes on and on.

On a sad note, my heart goes out to all of those affected by the tragedy in Connecticut. I can't even fathom the senselessness of this heart-breaking event. I just learned of a wonderful idea to help the kids at Sandy Hook to help deal with their grief as they move through the counseling process and wanted to share it with all of you: http://www.damasklove.com/drawn-together-a-fundraiser-for-newtown-connecticut/

Christmas Ornaments Card

My friend, Chelsea Comer, very graciously allowed me to use her design of a Christmas Ornament card for my December class. I saw her card and just LOVED it!  Her card used silver ornaments over navy blue petite polka dot cardstock which was sooo cute! I took mine a Kansas State University color direction with silver and silver damask ornaments over grape, sugar and onyx cardstock. LOVE it as did my class!!! Thanks, Chelsea! You Rock!!!

Here's the front of the card. It uses the Vintage Labels 2 die for the ornaments. Isn't that fun? Silver cord goes over the top to the front and makes the hanger. Love that silver cord! And, the organdy ribbon with the silver edge finishes it off perfectly, don't you think?
Here's a close-up of the side so you can see that the "ornaments" are popped up over the cord and the card base.
The a│s stamp set, Peace on Earth, provides the sentiment for the inside of the card. What do you think? Isn't Chelsea clever? I thought so too!

Be Joyful Always!

Here are a couple of cards from a church card order made with A Muse Studio cardstock, accessories and stamps paired with sentiments from The Stamps of Life praise4him.
The first Be Joyful card is orange and papaya cardstock mixed with the Halloween washi tape and clever girls stamp set for the background. Spellbinders circles and scalloped circles finish off the look. And, see below for the inside. How fun that just a touch of washi tape can add a great finish to the inside.
For the second Be joyful card, the card base is papaya and the spellbinder shape is cut from lichen. The washi tape is also from the Halloween collection. Isn't the pattern awesome?! :) I *heart* washi tape!
Have a joy-filled day!
