Have a Sunflower Day!

I love how the navy cardstock sets off the sunflower image from Flowers & Holly. Simple, classic colors suit this classic image. Prismacolor pencils and goo gone are the coloring medium. Dew drops finish off the versamark swirlies on the kraft cardstock.

*One tip for this coloring technique - you need a higher quality paper like white ultrasmooth cardstock. It will just chew up a lightweight cardstock. But, I love this technique because it does the shading for me and makes me feel like an artist. :)

bad hair day

Here's another fun technique that I just love! It's the cuttlebug waxed paper resist technique that I saw on SCS. Super fun and has sooooo many possibilities. I love that you cuttlebug the waxed paper to give it the texture and then iron it onto glossy cardstock and then add ink. super fun! And, isn't the new owl stamp set super cute? Love it!!! If you click on the image, you can see it larger and will be able to see all the details and textures.

Supplies:
Stamps: TAC Be Square
Paper: Kraft cardstock, Glossy cardstock, Brown cardstock
Other: Cloud Scissors, Waxed paper, dew drops, cuttlebug, spellbinders
Ink: Palette Claret, Versamagic Jumbo Java, Palette Burnt Umber

One Layer Border Background

I have a great card to share with you and I have to thank Beth at Sunflowers and Dragonflies for her great tutorial on a one layer border background technique! Beth has a great blog with tutorials every Tuesday and it's definitely worth the time to look through her wonderful creations!

Check out how fabulous a flat card can be!!!

And, what if you take a longer "mask" and create a border on the inside of the card? Love it!!!

Here's with a square mask for the top layer - Isn't it pretty?

So, which stamp sets and colors did I use for my cards?
Palette inks: Orangerie, Cote D'Azure and Cognac
Stamps: Circle Sampler, Flowers and Holly, Swirlies
Paper: Ivory cardstock

That's it and you can make soooo many variations. I can't wait to try more!!

Happy Stamping and Thanks again, Beth, for a fabulous and fun technique!

Just Because...

Have you sent a "Just Because" card lately? If not, you should consider it because is there anything better than getting a card out of the blue from a good friend? I just got one and it was AWESOME. What a great day-brightener! This "just because" card features images in the TAC Flowers and Holly stamp set and the TAC Just Because stamp set. TAC Aged Ornaments in versamark on torn kraft paper finish off the look for this quick card. You'll spend the most time coloring the sunflower and with the Goo Gone or OMS technique, even that won't take long.

Thanks for popping by my blog. I always appreciate the comments!

Patriotic Paper Play!

Oops - I meant to post this before the 4th but guess what I forgot to schedule... :) I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the holiday - I sure did!

This is a great way to give a little gift that you can put in the mail and pay just a bit extra in postage. The "flag" is actually a wildflower seed packet containing red, white and blue wildflowers. I got a bunch of them at www.americanmeadows.com.

Check out the paper piercing and versamark TAC aged ornaments that make up the background for this patriotic inspired card. I love using the TAC affirmation badges stamp set to make a big statement along with the TAC Just Because stamp set! :)
